How to get a Marriage Certificate

Documents Required
- Aadhaar card of Husband, Wife and Witness(es)
- Phone numbers of Husband, Wife and Witness(es)
- SSLC book of Husband and Wife
- Marriage invitation/letter or proof of place of marriage (church/temple/registrar letter)
- Passport-size photos of couple
- Proof of residence (ration card / voter ID / utility bill)
If Aadhaar is not available for any person: submit another valid government photo ID plus an affidavit explaining the absence of Aadhaar. If SSLC is not available, provide another age proof (birth certificate, passport).
Validity
Marriage certificate is typically valid for lifetime.
Procedure
- Open the KSmart portal (link above) and login/register.
- Navigate to "Marriage Registration".
- Fill couple and marriage details, add witness information and upload documents.
- Pay applicable fees (if any) online or note offline payment requirement.
- Book an appointment at the local panchayat/municipality or attend as instructed.
- Appear with witnesses on the appointment date for verification and signing.
- After verification, the marriage certificate will be issued; download or collect the printed certificate.
