SEO drives traffic through the organic search results and PPC drives traffic through the paid search result. And SEM uses both methods to promote a website.

Search engine marketing is classified into search engine optimization and pay per click advertising. You can use either SEO or PPC or both as a means to promote your website. SEO is free but in PPC you need to pay for each click u get on your ads. So it depends entirely upon you what type of marketing method to follow. Both of them have advantages and disadvantages. If your website is for a real website like an e-commerce website it is always good to promote your website using both SEO and PPC.

SEO doesn’t cost anything but u may need to hire an SEO expert if you are not familiar with it. SEO even though slower will last longer so it is always good to do a basic SEO of your site. SEO is divided into two; they are on page SEO and off page SEO. On page SEO is performed inside the code of the website and off page SEO is performed outside the website. It is always a good practice to create a SEO friendly website i.e. basic on page optimization.
